The Outer Banks is quickly becoming known as one of the premier kite surfing/boarding destination places in the USA! Hang gliding, wind surfing, and aeronatical history have made the Outer Banks famous and now kiteboarding is making it's claim to the Outer Banks. The predictable smooth and sometimes strong winds provide plenty of fuel here for the sport. The endless miles of shallow waters make the perfect conditions for those learning. The comfort and ease of the shallow waters will increase your learning speed and you can learn more here in days than you can learn months in other conditions. The Pamlico, Albarmarle, and Currtuck Sounds from over 390 square miles of pristine beach line with flat calm waters with a carpet of golden sound to walk on! On the other side of the road, the Outer Banks boasts some of the best surf on the entire East Coast. Bordered by the Atlantic, the miles of beach provides the ultimate skate park for those looking for a bit more challenge!
Our school is strategically located in southern Nags Head. We have a large training field for your initial training. We have a pro shop so you can see the latest gear available and talk to our experts! We have a private beach with an incredible sunset view over the sound! We have a bathroom with a shower on site! We have our own private beach for you to launch without worrying about other dangers. We also utilize a jet boat and a Carolina Skiff in the instructional process to aid in our efficiency and reduce student fatigue. We also rent wave runners on site for your friends!
Kitty Hawk Kites is also home to the largest Hang Gliding School in the USA! We have been teaching the world to fly since 1974! We are also the largest kite store on the East Coast with our main location in Nags Head and a total of 12 retail locations on the Outer Banks to serve you better! Don't forget to watch a hang gliding lesson at Jocky's Ridge State Park, the largest living dune system on the East Coast! Stop by the Wright Memorial and Museum to see where modern aviation was born. See the guardian of the graveyard of the Atlantic, the Hatteras lighthouse. This is the largest stone lighthouse in the US! There is also world class boating and the largest most modern commercial fishing fleet at Oregon Inlet.
